Historically, Beaujolais Nouveau started in 1951 and was made to celebrate the end of harvest.

Bottling takes place 6-8 weeks after harvest and unlike other French wines, it is drunk immediately after harvesting.

It is released on the third Thursday in November, just after midnight. A celebration of this wine, its release, and its region.

Retailers and winemakers are not allowed to sell the year's Beaujolais Nouveau vintage until then.

It is generally served chilled (which brings out the fresh flavours) and should be consumed quickly after the bottling.
