Historically, Beaujolais Nouveau started in 1951 and was made to celebrate the end of harvest.

​

Bottling takes place 6-8 weeks after harvest and unlike other French wines, it is drunk immediately after harvesting.

 

It is released on the third Thursday in November, just after midnight. A celebration of this wine, its release, and its region.

 

Retailers and winemakers are not allowed to sell the year's Beaujolais Nouveau vintage until then.

​

It is generally served chilled (which brings out the fresh flavours) and should be consumed quickly after the bottling.
